The Full Story
Hi, I’m Sam Marks — a portrait and street photographer based in Bangkok.
My photography journey began with a simple curiosity: how much of a story can one image tell? That question led me to explore two very different, but deeply connected worlds — portrait and street photography.
Through portrait photography, I focus on capturing people as they are. I’m drawn to real emotion, subtle expression, and the quiet power of eye contact. Whether it’s a carefully planned shoot or a spontaneous moment, I aim to create portraits that feel raw, intimate, and honest.
Street photography, on the other hand, is where I chase the unplanned. It’s about observing life as it unfolds — fleeting expressions, chaotic beauty, unfiltered energy. Bangkok has been the perfect canvas for this side of my work: unpredictable, layered, and full of character. It’s taught me how to anticipate moments without controlling them, and to find meaning in the everyday.
What connects both styles for me is a love of storytelling. I don’t just want to take photos — I want to make people feel something when they look at them.
Thanks for stopping by — I’m always up for collaborating, connecting, or just talking about the craft.
Let’s make something meaningful.
